Meanwhile, Randy needs advice about a girl he likes. Jill watches a Tool Time on tape and sees Tim checking out a woman's behind. Tim is then accused of having the wandering male eye with no control. Tim guarantees he's not going to "check out babes" while on dinner with Jill. Then he is approached in the restaurant by an ardent fan, Kiki Van Fursterwallenscheinlaw...
But after following Tim's advice of racing Vinnie again with a better sled, Randy sprains his arm. Meanwhile, Brad contemplates stopping his saxophone lessons. Tim tries to beat Doc Johnson in the neighborhood Christmas light contest, but Randy is leaking information to Doc's granddaughter. Brad wants to go skiing with Tom Wheeler's family on Christmas. Wes Davidson, the president of Binford, makes Tim promote a bad tool on Tool Time. Meanwhile, the boys go shopping and find a way to save money.

Tim reveals to Al that he is going to put the 350 Chevy engine in his hot rod. Tim thought Al would be spending the weekend with Greta (last seen in season 1 episode 21, "Al's Fair in Love and War"). Karen has broken up with Greg and is visiting Jill. When Tim tells that Dave Gibbons is coming, Jill wants to introduce him to Karen. Tim can see what Jill has in mind and protests - he needs Dave in the garage. Brad, popular and athletic, was often the moving factor, who engaged before thinking, a tendency which regularly landed him in trouble.
While in the basement, they discover something moving down there. He's trying hard to get rid of it, but Mark has been feeding it and named it Pete. Brad tries to fake being sick in order to be able to stay home because his math homework is not done since Jennifer used to do it until she refused and Brad broke up with her. When Brad flunks in math Randy suggests that he tell Jill that Jennifer left him and he's depressed because of it. This works, until Jennifer turns up and Jill learns the truth.
Season 3 (1993–
Al invites Tim to go ice fishing with him, but Tim is only interested in bringing his TV and tools along rather than passing the time in conversation. Randy loses a sled race to a neighbor boy he does not like, so Tim helps build a super sled. He wants to win to prove he is good even though short. Meanwhile, Brad wants to give up his saxophone lessons. The percentage of approved Tomatometer critics who have given this title a positive review.
Tim lifts a heavy load of books after Jill tells him not to and pulls a groin muscle. Also, Randy has the lead in the Peter Pan show at school, but there is no apparatus to help him fly; Tim builds one. Richardson was offered $25 million to do a ninth season; Allen was offered double that. The two declined, and Home Improvement ended after eight seasons and 203 episodes. Karn guest starred in two episodes of Tim Allen's 2010s ABC/Fox sitcom Last Man Standing in 2013.

Thomas has also appeared on Last Man Standing, and has directed episodes of the series. Episodes of Home Improvement were not aired in order of their production code number or original airdate. On cable, the series started airing in 2002 on superstations TBS and WGN America.
For this reason, the crew received news just one day prior to taping the first pilot that Bedford Lloyd had dropped out. Casting immediately contacted the other actor considered for the role, Earl Hindman. Tim allen was then and is now the typical open mouth insert foot husband. He was hilarious both as a not so know it all tool man, and as the hapless family man.
Season 3 Episodes
Tim's new assistant, electrician Heidi Keppert, played by Debbe Dunning, replaced Anderson as the Tool Time Girl for the following third season, starting with "Maybe Baby", which aired on September 15, 1993. Dunning had previously appeared in the episode "Overactive Glance" from season 2 where she played an obsessive Tool Time fan named Kiki. Anderson did reprise the role of Lisa on the sixth-season finale episode "The Kiss and the Kiss-Off", which aired on May 20, 1997. As mentioned above, the first pilot was produced in April 1991, with Frances Fisher playing Jill Taylor. Fisher, primarily known as a dramatic actress, was well qualified for the co-starring role but was viewed by the studio audience as not being comedic enough, and too serious in her line delivery.
Tim accidentally blows up a bad picture of Jill for her library fundraising dinner. Meanwhile, Al takes the boys miniature golfing and throws a fit after Brad gets a hole-in-one. For Mother's Day, Tim and the boys plan for a hot tub, but they have to remove the swing set. When she sees the swing set gone, she reminisces how much she enjoyed it.
In later seasons, a running joke developed in which more and more creative means were used to prevent Wilson's face below the eyes from ever being seen by the audience. Also, in later seasons, Wilson's full name was revealed to be Wilson W. Wilson, Jr. Beginning in season 2, Home Improvement began each episode with a cold open, which features the show's logo during the teaser. From season 4 until the end of the series in 1999, an anthropomorphic version of the logo was used in different types of animation. A34731.5Bob Vila re-appears on Tool Time and challenges Tim to a lawnmower race for charity. Determined to beat Vila once and for all, Tim inserts a jet engine from a helicopter into the lawnmower.
Meanwhile, Brad and Randy create "The Tadpole Secrecy Test" for Mark, who wants them to play with him. The test involves Mark holding a live tadpole in his mouth for three seconds, but he accidentally swallows it. It is wholesome without being corny (I'm looking at you, Full House). I watch this every Friday night with my kids and they love it.
Tool Time was conceived as a parody of the PBS home-improvement show This Old House. Tim and Al are caricatures of the two principal cast members of This Old House, host Bob Vila and master carpenter Norm Abram. Al Borland has a beard and always wears plaid shirts when taping an episode, reflecting Norm Abram's appearance on This Old House. Bob Vila appeared as a guest star on several episodes of Home Improvement, while Tim Allen and Pamela Anderson both appeared on Bob Vila's show Home Again. Each episode includes Tim's own Binford-sponsored home improvement show, called Tool Time, a show-within-a-show.
Tim wants Jill to throw out some of her clothes or he will remodel the closet. Brad has punched a boy in school who called him names after hugging his Dad. Seasons 5 and 6 accidentally contain some slightly edited episodes, most likely due to using syndication prints. And the episode "The Feminine Mistake" from season 6, doesn't contain the 3D version of the episode as originally aired on ABC, instead using the 2D version as seen in syndication. Throughout the show, Tim Taylor would often be wearing sweatshirts or T-shirts from various Michigan-based colleges and universities. These were usually sent by the schools to the show for him to wear during an episode.
Home Improvement: Season 3: Episode 23
After an acquaintance of hers gets cosmetic surgery to please her husband, Jill gets mad at Tim for suggesting that she could benefit from some improvements. On Tool Time, Tim and Al attempt to refurbish a table. Meanwhile, Brad and Randy challenge Mark to a series of games, with the loser having to do cleanup chores around the house. Al and Tim are asked to guest host "Cooking with Irma" while Irma is out of town for a week, but Tim chafes at suddenly being Al's assistant.
